In the 1970's she sold the business to Lester Lackey Sr. and Horace Johnson, Sr. Sometime thereafter, Horace Johnson, Sr. sold his share to Lester Lackey Sr. In 1995, Lester Lackey Sr. passed and left the business to his sons. Years later, Vernon Ike Lackey sold his share of the business to Lester Lackey Jr., who operates the business today, but still remains a part of the family's business. She and Reynold loved to travel in their Airstream with their Airedales, discovering new places while learning about the history of the US. These travels were often inspirations for her artwork. She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a devoted parishioner at the Presbyterian Church, in Tunkhannock PA, and part of the Wally Byham Caravan Club, Penn Lehigh Unit 093.
Caroline leaves behind, Reynold, her beloved spouse of 64 years. Also surviving Caroline, are their two children and son-in-law, Lisa, Todd and Leo, as well as her grandson and his partner, Adam and Amanda. — Mr. Lackey and his staff was truly there for the family when our daughter fell asleep in death.
In the 1940's, the funeral home's founders split and became the Sanford and Young Funeral Home and the Lackey Funeral Home. Lackey Funeral Home was operated by two brothers, Ike and Flem Lackey on West Street. In 1948, Wavey Lackey the son of Ike Lackey was hired to run the family business and it was later moved to Thelma Lane in Covington. Wavey Lackey then moved the business to Washington Street in the late 1950's.
